It appears there is some light for our hope in Canwetalkaboutit. The growing program developed in Chicago is called "Theology on Tap". It came to Pennsylvania through efforts in Lancaster and expanded to Kutztown via the Young Adult group at Maidencreek CHurch in Kutztown.
A group of interested people, primarily UCC clergy, are working to develop a program of this nature in the Reading Area. The essential premise is to provide a vehicle for civil discussion and dialogue on critical issues and this parallels the goals expressed by our group at Albright in the Can We Talk About It exploration and website.
The key is that these discussions are handled in an adult manner over a beverage of choice in an environment where varying views can be comfortably expressed and explored. We have already started developing a list of interesting issues along with solid suggestions on dynamic speakers to bring background and light to these subjects.
Our tentative goal is a series of monthly sessions on the 4th Thursday night of each month at a convenient location in the Reading Area. We hope to be able to start the Reading Theology on Top in February.
